The Ancestry of Our English Bible: By Price, Ira Maurice, 1906
- File Size:
- 7 MB
Our English Bible is the descendant of a long line of ancestors. It is the gathering up, the focalization, of the best that is found in all the manuscripts and versions extant. It is the result of the best efforts of about seventy-five of the leading scholars of the last quarter century. How did these scholars produce our English Bible? What were the sources of their materials? Where were these materials found ? What is their character? Where are they preserved? How were they used by scholars in the production, for example, of our Revised Version ? -
BATTLE OF THE BIBLES: By H. H. Meyers, 1993

For well over three centuries, when English-speaking people spoke of the Bible, it was accepted that they were referring to the Authorized of King James I. Its appearance in 1611 was the culmination of a century of diligent toil on the part of the Reformers who were prepared to place their lives at risk in order that the common people might have access to the Word of God. In the process, there emerged the Protestant Reformation which quickly dispelled the spiritual and intellectual gloom of the Dark Ages. By the mid-twentieth century, while adjusting to the changing values of the newly arrived atomic era, English-speaking Protestants were subjected to a strange phenomenon. Gradually, they were becoming accustomed to their pastors referring to curious renditions of Bible texts. -
BURIED EVIDENCE [Report on A Personal Tour of the Middle East] : By GEORGE BURNSIDE, 1950

Over the air, and from the public platform he has proclaimed his unshaken faith in the accuracy and veracity of God’s Word. He makes no secret of his passion to vindicate the authenticity of the Scriptures, and in BURIED EVIDENCE a number of these sermons and radio addresses have been brought together for the first time. They make no pretense to literary excellence, although by no means do they lack this, but rather come straight from the heart of a true evangelist. Already in their spoken form they have brought blessing and conviction to those who have listened. Their influence will continue and enlarge as they, in the medium of this book, are now placed in the hands of men and women who are seeking for light and truth.
