I uploaded Canright's book to my site and it didn’t upload properly. So I reloaded it. It uploaded this time ok. [Sorry].. Moral duties and precepts are such as grow out of the attributes of God. Creative power is the distinguishing attribute of the living God, and the Sabbath grew directly out of the exercise of this attribute in the creation of the world. The Sabbath, like all other moral precepts, rests upon eternal and unalterable facts.

THE design of this work is to undeceive the honest, and remove the prejudice that everywhere exists against such truths as the "Second Advent near," " Man's Mortality," " Perpetuity of the true Sabbath," &c. Those who will examine these pages will find that we have in favor of these great truths, not only the testimony of Scripture, but also that of great and good men, both of the past and present, who have testified in favor of that which the world and nominal churches now term " Infidelity," "Heresy," "New Things," "Novelties," "Winds of Doctrine," &c.

Yet men would have us believe that these are the ancient doctrines of God's word, and that the truth has stood on the side of the serpent from the days of Eve to the present. Gen. 3 : 4·

"Index of Prohibited Books", The Catholic Encyclopedia (Volume VII, 1910): "The first Roman Index of Prohibited Books (Index librorum prohibitorum), published in 1559 under Paul IV, was very severe, and was therefore mitigated under that pontiff by decree of the Holy Office of 14 June of the same year. Charles IX of France decreed in 1563 that nothing could be printed without the special permission of the king. The origin of the word propaganda is linked to the Roman Catholic Church’s missionary organization Congregatio de Propaganda Fide (Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith), which was founded in 1622. Index Librorum Prohibitorum. Index Librorum Prohibitorum, (Latin: “Index of Forbidden Books”), list of books once forbidden by Roman Catholic church authority as dangerous to the faith or morals of Roman Catholics. Publication of the list ceased in 1966, and it was relegated to the status of a historic document.

But critics of this doctrinal construct have built around it a cluster of assumptions which evidence suggests should rightly be called myths. These notions merit examination both careful and succinct:
